Day of Rest?

Sundays are usually my lazy day, because let's face it: God said so. lol I love it for a bit, but then I start to become anxious. I need to do something. So what do I do...I find crafts to work on around the apartment. What do I have in store???

Simple Spring Wreath-nix the fabric flowers, add some hydrangea and baby's breath :) Definitely doing this!!!!  Mason Jar Welcome Y'all Wooden Door Sign with burlap ribbon - haha how cute!!!spray paint a branch wreath a bright modern color
Couple of Door signs I want to work on. The first image I absolutely love (nix the fabric yoyos) and it will be perfect for Spring. I actually plan on doing this with my new wood letter "C" (purchased at a craft fair). The second is adorable for summer, except I may change it up a bit and not actually use a mason jar design. Thoughts still processing on that second idea. The third is another cute idea (again nix the fabric yoyos and black); love the pop of color that'll really make it stand out. This will be cute for gifts as well (Mother's Day especially).

DIY Mason Jar Luminaries

Shabby, rustic candle holders. I have plenty of mason jars that need to be put to good use (and plenty of lace and burlap).

cute DIY coat hanger

Have the perfect wall space for this little crafty

ceramic candle holders

I want to add some more candle holders around the living room (make it a little more cozy)

cotton hydrangea magnolia (no magnolia)

Possibility for a new vase arrangement in the dining room

Thinking of updating my current pillows to include the color pallet: tan, white, gold. I have plenty of fabric to choose from and it's much cheaper than buying new pillows.

DIY Map Canvas-this is what I want to do for the Living Room now

Wall art for the living room (I have a window frame and {believe it or not} world map wrapping paper)

distressed shelf

Idea for the bedroom (with hooks on the lower level for jewelry..possibly, haven't made my made up just yet)

Lots of projects huh???? :) No wonder my husband rolls his eyes when I bring in another piece I've found and try to stuff it into the "mud closet" that I've turned into my craft & crap closet. Only so much you can do with limited space, but for the time being I want it to feel cozy instead of just pieced together with things we had when we first moved in together. It takes time to put together a home-whether it be an apartment, camper, or a house.

Feel free to follow me on pinterest, to see other ideas I find (as all pictures above are from the site).

Happy crafting!

Dating for the Married Ones

image found on graceevan.org via google search, images

Dating used to be is so exciting!!! It's something we would primp for (both ladies and gents), we would look forward to the weekend for those nights out. And then marriage kind of dulls that...unintentionally. For whatever reason, it just stops and most couples get boring. We get comfortable, and we think that there's no point in trying anymore-marriage was the goal achiever for all that dating anyway, right?

Well, wrong. Most women would do anything for their husbands to plan a night out every now and then. It's the thought that counts, seriously. It doesn't matter how much money you do or don't spend-it's about what you're doing together to grow your relationship.

Believe it or not, we continue to grow and figure out who we are. We are continually changing, and the goal is to change into better people-for ourselves & our spouse. So when we grow, our likes and dislikes will differentiate a little-or a lot! How, then, do you expect to keep learning about your significant other? Granted you could try to do it while you're doing the dishes, running around chasing the kids, or even sitting on the couch watching television together. If you notice, though, there's always something else to side-track you. That's why dating is still important. You have to focus your attention on each other. No kids, no television-get out of your comfort zone.

Sounds like an awesome idea, but then you start panicking and wonder how in the world do you go on a date with someone you already know?? It's rather funny when you think about it. :) As much as you think you already know your spouse, there are still things you don't know. I just learned recently that my husband doesn't mind  plaid shirts; I was completely blown away by this small fact [and still am]. It was something I learned while strolling through the mall with him. It's that simple!

Seeing as it's not that frightening to go on a date, you're probably wondering where to go? You may always do dinner somewhere every weekend (like we often do); but do one little thing to change it up. Sit in the same booth together instead of across from each other. It feels more romantic, and you'll start acting like teenagers again. Another suggestion, is if you have a 4 or 5 Star Hotel close to you, spend an evening in their  bar/restaurant. The Marriott usually has a balcony area with fire pits that can be enjoyed year round. It's especially cozy in the winter or fall, paired with a few drinks. If you're feeling especially frisky and adventurous, rent a room. That way you don't have to worry about driving back home. Another simple date night, picnic in the park-in the evening. Then bring a blanket for star gazing later; if you really want to blow her mind then bring your iPod with you and listen to some jazz or romantic music. Yes, it may be cheesy but you'll enjoy it, besides how often do you get to look at the stars???

Just a few ideas to get your brain cells functioning that forgot about how to date. Don't forget to dress up a little and put a little something on your lips as well. Grab a bottle of wine, or your preferred beverage of choice and get to know each other a little better. You may be surprised that words may not even be needed at all. ;)

Love and be loved~xoxo

Current Craves

<< I have a slight obsession with scarves. The top of my closet is full of them...as well as hats. The funny thing about hats is that I collect them, I adore them; but, I never wear them out. The Shoals area just isn't ready yet.

My current craves?? Scarves and fur (faux). I've never been a fan of fur, until recently. I found a vest that I fell in love with (TJ Maxx) and I'm on the hunt for an all black fur vest. Below are a few of my fav combinations.

Faux fur vest.jeans, booties, oversized sweater, big scarf  chunky, comfy, perfect

On a budget?? Guess what, I am too!! Don't fall for the retail prices for these items, patience is a virtue ;) I just hit the scarf jackpot at Rue21-infinity scarves are my all time favorite, and they have plenty in stock ($12.99). Fur vests-consignment, consignment, consignment. I went on the hunt for a tacky sweater today and I found so many fur vests and coats at a consignment shop-none of which were over $24.99 {I also lucked out and found a tacky sweater vest for my tacky Christmas party in a couple of weeks, $12}. If you're real lucky, you'll also find very good items at thrift stores. Happy Hunting!

Love & Marriage

I saw this on Pinterest today and wanted to share. I liked the message in it, and most often we find ourselves giving up in our marriages instead of continuing to work on it. I can't say it enough: no one said it would be easy. It is going to be hard and some days you want to call it quits; but at the end of the day love conquers all-the trick is letting it and not allowing things to build up. That means no holding grudges, what's past is past. Focus on the future. :)

The only thing I didn't like about one of the 6 ways was to ignore faults. I agree to some extent; but if a person's fault is hazardous to their or anyone else's health then those do not need to be ignored. As for everything else, this blogger was right on. Enjoy!

Updates

clock

I've been thinking lately, that I want to update my blog and "brand" it. Maggz is a nickname that I've been called for so very long; and as much as I loved it in relation to my blog, it just didn't seem to be the right title. Thus, you will see my new blog updated to: MaggyDawn .
I have a love for design, crafts, and wedding planning. If my path ever chooses to expand on any {or all} of those things, I wanted to have a name that stood out and seemed professional at the same time. Thus MaggyDawn. So, now I'm sure you're wondering where I came up with this.

Maggie Dawn is my name-says it on the birth certificate. My mother was an avid soap opera fan back in the day; one of her favorite characters was named Maggie, and thus my name was chosen.  Dawn is a family name, my grandmother's middle name was Dawn; my mother's middle name is Dawn, and I was graced with the same middle name. What do those names mean? Well, Maggie is of Greek & Enligh origin and means precious pearl. Dawn is English and means sunrise. I just take it as I'm precious and always strive for a sunny disposition-which is how I truly behave. ;)

Did you notice I made a slight change to my name in the title? I dropped the "ie" for a "y". I felt this made it more unique and creative; besides, most people try to spell my name with a "y" anyway. So there you have it: updated blog and the why.

My goal is to post as much as I can and have it be inspirational, meaningful, or informative. You never know where life may take you, so therefore you have to be intuitive in all aspects as to how you present yourself. Please feel free to provide feedback, as to what you would like to see posts on or if you would like to requests my services in the design/craft/event area.
