Dating for the Married Ones
image found on graceevan.org via google search, images
Dating used to be is so exciting!!! It's something we would primp for (both ladies and gents), we would look forward to the weekend for those nights out. And then marriage kind of dulls that...unintentionally. For whatever reason, it just stops and most couples get boring. We get comfortable, and we think that there's no point in trying anymore-marriage was the goal achiever for all that dating anyway, right?
Well, wrong. Most women would do anything for their husbands to plan a night out every now and then. It's the thought that counts, seriously. It doesn't matter how much money you do or don't spend-it's about what you're doing together to grow your relationship.
Believe it or not, we continue to grow and figure out who we are. We are continually changing, and the goal is to change into better people-for ourselves & our spouse. So when we grow, our likes and dislikes will differentiate a little-or a lot! How, then, do you expect to keep learning about your significant other? Granted you could try to do it while you're doing the dishes, running around chasing the kids, or even sitting on the couch watching television together. If you notice, though, there's always something else to side-track you. That's why dating is still important. You have to focus your attention on each other. No kids, no television-get out of your comfort zone.
Sounds like an awesome idea, but then you start panicking and wonder how in the world do you go on a date with someone you already know?? It's rather funny when you think about it. :) As much as you think you already know your spouse, there are still things you don't know. I just learned recently that my husband doesn't mind plaid shirts; I was completely blown away by this small fact [and still am]. It was something I learned while strolling through the mall with him. It's that simple!
Seeing as it's not that frightening to go on a date, you're probably wondering where to go? You may always do dinner somewhere every weekend (like we often do); but do one little thing to change it up. Sit in the same booth together instead of across from each other. It feels more romantic, and you'll start acting like teenagers again. Another suggestion, is if you have a 4 or 5 Star Hotel close to you, spend an evening in their bar/restaurant. The Marriott usually has a balcony area with fire pits that can be enjoyed year round. It's especially cozy in the winter or fall, paired with a few drinks. If you're feeling especially frisky and adventurous, rent a room. That way you don't have to worry about driving back home. Another simple date night, picnic in the park-in the evening. Then bring a blanket for star gazing later; if you really want to blow her mind then bring your iPod with you and listen to some jazz or romantic music. Yes, it may be cheesy but you'll enjoy it, besides how often do you get to look at the stars???

Just a few ideas to get your brain cells functioning that forgot about how to date. Don't forget to dress up a little and put a little something on your lips as well. Grab a bottle of wine, or your preferred beverage of choice and get to know each other a little better. You may be surprised that words may not even be needed at all. ;)
Love and be loved~xoxo

Current Craves
<< I have a slight obsession with scarves. The top of my closet is full of them...as well as hats. The funny thing about hats is that I collect them, I adore them; but, I never wear them out. The Shoals area just isn't ready yet.
My current craves?? Scarves and fur (faux). I've never been a fan of fur, until recently. I found a vest that I fell in love with (TJ Maxx) and I'm on the hunt for an all black fur vest. Below are a few of my fav combinations.
On a budget?? Guess what, I am too!! Don't fall for the retail prices for these items, patience is a virtue ;) I just hit the scarf jackpot at Rue21-infinity scarves are my all time favorite, and they have plenty in stock ($12.99). Fur vests-consignment, consignment, consignment. I went on the hunt for a tacky sweater today and I found so many fur vests and coats at a consignment shop-none of which were over $24.99 {I also lucked out and found a tacky sweater vest for my tacky Christmas party in a couple of weeks, $12}. If you're real lucky, you'll also find very good items at thrift stores. Happy Hunting!

Love & Marriage
I saw this on Pinterest today and wanted to share. I liked the message in it, and most often we find ourselves giving up in our marriages instead of continuing to work on it. I can't say it enough: no one said it would be easy. It is going to be hard and some days you want to call it quits; but at the end of the day love conquers all-the trick is letting it and not allowing things to build up. That means no holding grudges, what's past is past. Focus on the future. :)
The only thing I didn't like about one of the 6 ways was to ignore faults. I agree to some extent; but if a person's fault is hazardous to their or anyone else's health then those do not need to be ignored. As for everything else, this blogger was right on. Enjoy!

Updates
Maggie Dawn is my name-says it on the birth certificate. My mother was an avid soap opera fan back in the day; one of her favorite characters was named Maggie, and thus my name was chosen. Dawn is a family name, my grandmother's middle name was Dawn; my mother's middle name is Dawn, and I was graced with the same middle name. What do those names mean? Well, Maggie is of Greek & Enligh origin and means precious pearl. Dawn is English and means sunrise. I just take it as I'm precious and always strive for a sunny disposition-which is how I truly behave. ;)
Did you notice I made a slight change to my name in the title? I dropped the "ie" for a "y". I felt this made it more unique and creative; besides, most people try to spell my name with a "y" anyway. So there you have it: updated blog and the why.
My goal is to post as much as I can and have it be inspirational, meaningful, or informative. You never know where life may take you, so therefore you have to be intuitive in all aspects as to how you present yourself. Please feel free to provide feedback, as to what you would like to see posts on or if you would like to requests my services in the design/craft/event area.

Paint it Red
I love red hair....I think the right person can pull it off and look amazing. I'm debating on putting red highlights in my hair in a few weeks-we'll see. I'm more of dye it all at once kind of girl, as opposed to streaks. It just doesn't seem to suit me as well. #redspiration

Crafty Crafty
Been a while since my last post, and it was a rather sad one (I was having a memory lapse). I've been so busy crafting lately, here's what I have on my list to work on!!
I can't decide which wreath I want to do (either one will involve snow flakes and reindeer too):
you'll like the twist I made on these mugs (Hoping they'll be cute dirty santa gifts) ;)

I've been bitten by the shutter bug!!!
And I'm suddenly into vintage maps (well I've always liked them, but just recently figuring out how to incorporate them into our home):
OH and let's not forget cotton! (very southern and can add a little rustic touch)
What crafts do you have lined up??

My Fall Favs
It's Fall and I'm having a hard time being patient for the weather to cool off, so I can wear some of my new wardrobe! I've been picking up on some trends that I'm going to be incorporating into my style. What have been your favorites?
So have you noticed a pattern?? For fall, here's what you need (at least one of each item, and you're good to go):
Colors trending for fall?? Gray, Plum, Wine, Black, and Neutrals. Red and Emerald are also making appearances as well.
Hope you enjoyed! I know I still have a few things to add to my closet. What are you looking forward to wearing most this season??

- Neutral - whether it be a shirt, blazer, hat, scarf, shoes, or jeans. Neutrals are really big for fall this year
- Hat - I personally love the hats featured in these pictures, but a fedora is also acceptable
- Scarf - usually that is plural for me. Love me some scarves. If you don't know how to twist them around, buy yourself an infinity scarf (it's just a circle of material). I usually find mine at Target
- Polka Dots - making a big come back this Fall. Sweaters, scarves, skirts, and even pantyhose
- Booties - Ankle booties that is. They go great with skinny jeans-especially rolled at the end.
- Cheetah - I thought cheetah was beginning to fade away, but it certainly is not. The key to wear cheetah this Fall, is to wear it in subtle ways, with subtle prints. (i.e. scarf or sweater)
- Your Sunday Tea Blazer - (shown in the 4th picture above). These aren't just for the ritzy or even your grandmother any more. They're making a big hit-paired with blouses. Don't want to spend a lot for these cute blazers? Hit up your local thrift stores. I found mine at the Salvation Army for $3
- Chunky Sweaters - can never go wrong with one of these. Perfect for the office, when it feels like it's below zero; or it's cute for a lunch date with your girlfriends
- Jean - Shirts. Feels like the 90s, but in a much, much more fashionable way. I've been on the hunt for the perfect one, haven't been so lucky yet (you can probably find these in your local thrift store as well; take it a step further and tie up the front for a new bold look)
- Last but not least-Floral. Floral is still in for Fall, choose less bold prints and be sure your colors are still fall appropriate
