Love & Marriage

I saw this on Pinterest today and wanted to share. I liked the message in it, and most often we find ourselves giving up in our marriages instead of continuing to work on it. I can't say it enough: no one said it would be easy. It is going to be hard and some days you want to call it quits; but at the end of the day love conquers all-the trick is letting it and not allowing things to build up. That means no holding grudges, what's past is past. Focus on the future. :)

The only thing I didn't like about one of the 6 ways was to ignore faults. I agree to some extent; but if a person's fault is hazardous to their or anyone else's health then those do not need to be ignored. As for everything else, this blogger was right on. Enjoy!

Updates

clock

I've been thinking lately, that I want to update my blog and "brand" it. Maggz is a nickname that I've been called for so very long; and as much as I loved it in relation to my blog, it just didn't seem to be the right title. Thus, you will see my new blog updated to: MaggyDawn .
I have a love for design, crafts, and wedding planning. If my path ever chooses to expand on any {or all} of those things, I wanted to have a name that stood out and seemed professional at the same time. Thus MaggyDawn. So, now I'm sure you're wondering where I came up with this.

Maggie Dawn is my name-says it on the birth certificate. My mother was an avid soap opera fan back in the day; one of her favorite characters was named Maggie, and thus my name was chosen.  Dawn is a family name, my grandmother's middle name was Dawn; my mother's middle name is Dawn, and I was graced with the same middle name. What do those names mean? Well, Maggie is of Greek & Enligh origin and means precious pearl. Dawn is English and means sunrise. I just take it as I'm precious and always strive for a sunny disposition-which is how I truly behave. ;)

Did you notice I made a slight change to my name in the title? I dropped the "ie" for a "y". I felt this made it more unique and creative; besides, most people try to spell my name with a "y" anyway. So there you have it: updated blog and the why.

My goal is to post as much as I can and have it be inspirational, meaningful, or informative. You never know where life may take you, so therefore you have to be intuitive in all aspects as to how you present yourself. Please feel free to provide feedback, as to what you would like to see posts on or if you would like to requests my services in the design/craft/event area.

Paint it Red

red, red, red.

I love red hair....I think the right person can pull it off and look amazing. I'm debating on putting red highlights in my hair in a few weeks-we'll see. I'm more of dye it all at once kind of girl, as opposed to streaks. It just doesn't seem to suit me as well. #redspiration

Crafty Crafty

Been a while since my last post, and it was a rather sad one (I was having a memory lapse). I've been so busy crafting lately, here's what I have on my list to work on!!

sharpie. white mugs. bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.
you'll like the twist I made on these mugs (Hoping they'll be cute dirty santa gifts) ;)

I can't decide which wreath I want to do (either one will involve snow flakes and reindeer too):

Christmas Wreath.                    ornaments, a styrofoam wreath, a glue gun, a wooden letter and glitter are ALL you need to make this by joanne

I've been bitten by the shutter bug!!!

And I'm suddenly into vintage maps (well I've always liked them, but just recently figuring out how to incorporate them into our home):
DIY Map Canvas-this is what I want to do for the Living Room nowI like this idea for a "powder room" except only have one wall covered in the map wallpaper-the rest of the walls could be a tan or dark brown.recycled chairs and mapsMemory Lane Coasters: maps of where you've been, modge podge and stone tiles

OH and let's not forget cotton! (very southern and can add a little rustic touch)

Cotton and Burlap wreath..deep south style....I would love to do this!!Amy.Fresh cotton for arrangements. Think this would be awesome for your wedding!Cotton Plants for Floral Arrangements

My Fall Favs

It's Fall and I'm having a hard time being patient for the weather to cool off, so I can wear some of my new wardrobe! I've been picking up on some trends that I'm going to be incorporating into my style. What have been your favorites?

So have you noticed a pattern?? For fall, here's what you need (at least one of each item, and you're good to go):

  1. Neutral - whether it be a shirt, blazer, hat, scarf, shoes, or jeans. Neutrals are really big for fall this year
  2. Hat - I personally love the hats featured in these pictures, but a fedora is also acceptable
  3. Scarf - usually that is plural for me. Love me some scarves. If you don't know how to twist them around, buy yourself an infinity scarf (it's just a circle of material). I usually find mine at Target
  4. Polka Dots - making a big come back this Fall. Sweaters, scarves, skirts, and even pantyhose
  5. Booties - Ankle booties that is. They go great with skinny jeans-especially rolled at the end.
  6. Cheetah - I thought cheetah was beginning to fade away, but it certainly is not. The key to wear cheetah this Fall, is to wear it in subtle ways, with subtle prints. (i.e. scarf or sweater)
  7. Your Sunday Tea Blazer - (shown in the 4th picture above). These aren't just for the ritzy or even your grandmother any more. They're making a big hit-paired with blouses. Don't want to spend a lot for these cute blazers? Hit up your local thrift stores. I found mine at the Salvation Army for $3
  8. Chunky Sweaters - can never go wrong with one of these. Perfect for the office, when it feels like it's below zero; or it's cute for a lunch date with your girlfriends
  9. Jean - Shirts. Feels like the 90s, but in a much, much more fashionable way. I've been on the hunt for the perfect one, haven't been so lucky yet (you can probably find these in your local thrift store as well; take it a step further and tie up the front for a new bold look)
  10. Last but not least-Floral. Floral is still in for Fall, choose less bold prints and be sure your colors are still fall appropriate

Colors trending for fall?? Gray, Plum, Wine, Black, and Neutrals. Red and Emerald are also making appearances as well.

Hope you enjoyed! I know I still have a few things to add to my closet. What are you looking forward to wearing most this season??

I'm Asking You!

Happy Halloween

It's only a month away from my favorite time of year!!! Halloween!! :) And I still have yet to make an official decision on what to dress up as. I have so many different thoughts and I'm trying to figure out which one I will like best. So...therefore I'm leaving it up to you to vote :) Here are my options, leave your vote in the comments below!!

Ok...so my first choice has been Avengers: Black Widow (complete with the red wig)

I've been wanting to do this one for FOREVER, but the husband keeps saying no:

And I just went completely "old school" on this one, and I'm leaning towards it (strong second):

Granted, the first two cover up much more-but who wouldn't want to dress up like Britney?? lol
Ok so anyway-vote away :)
