Cropped

It's hard to believe that April begins this weekend, it will officially be spring soon even though the weather has already been magnificent these last few weeks! I would love to have this kind of weather year round-who wouldn't love 80 degrees with little to no humidity??

I've been trying to figure out my closet here lately, I'm just not sure what to wear! I love flips flops but I don't feel it's time just yet to break them out with everything and when exactly do we start wearing spaghetti strap/sleeveless tops/dresses? So I've been opting for skinny jeans with the bottoms rolled up a couple of times and chunky heels, paired with some tops that show a little skin. My legs are in no condition to be in public just yet lol

So there are the cropped pants that are perfect for spring, especially if you're not ready to bare a lot of leg yet either. ;) They can be paired with flats, heels; blazers and cardigans. I saw a few while on my mini vacay in Atlanta. Express, The Limited, and Zara had several affordable pairs if you decide to start shopping for your closet.

Here's a few of my favorite cropped outfits:

need more cropped pants...they are perfect with heels

What has everyone else been wearing, do you feel caught in the middle with your closet like me? What are you favorite ways to wear cropped pants?

LC Lauren Conrad Collection

Lauren Conrad just posted her new favorite Kohl's piece that is in her spring collection. I own the original shirt design that she made; it is a staple with my work wardrobe, especially when paired with a blazer. (photo: laurenconrad.com )

I just received Kohl's coupons in the mail this week and to say I am excited is an understatement! It couldn't be better timing with Lauren's new spring collection out in stores and online (click here to view the collection).

I decided to list my personal favorites (especially ones that I will be purchasing this weekend). What are your favorites?

Nailed It

Polished nails have always been in, but they're coming back with a splash-of color. I was never one to color my nails, it was either a classy french or clear coat. Slowly, I have come around to adding some color to my fingers and I'm having a lot of fun with it; however, I have to keep it professional working in a professional environment. So how can you stay in style without going over the top?? Here are a few of my favorite colors and a few little designs I find suitable for the office.
What are your favorites?

peachy I have been on the hunt for this color, it's great for spring and summer

Instead of a traditional clear and white manicure, try colors in the same hue family.

Pretty nail polishTry a suttle design on one nail, instead of all of your nails. Keep it simple, I like the tiny polka dots on the ring finger here
Matte Nail PolishMatte nails are my new favorite polish. I've been searching for a color that I really like (so far, purple has made my list).

And if you must have fun nails, save it for the weekend; besides, a couple of days is about as long as they need to last anyway ;) Here are a few I would like to try:

I was born in the wrong era

I have a love for old movies (Pride & Prejudice, Breakfast @ Tiffany's, Little Women, Gone with the Wind); and I also love the clothing. So here's what I secretly wish I could be wearing, enjoy!

I've been taking pictures each morning of my work attire (please disregard the closet scenery). This is just from a few days this week.
Sweater: thrifted $9.00
Floral tank: TJ Maxx $14.99
Dress Pants: Gap (on sale) $30
Heels: Kohl's (clearance) $10
Lace Blazer: Forever 21 $24.99
Floral blouse: Kohl's $15.99
Pants: TJ Maxx $14.99
Heels: same as above (the best $10 I've spent)

Jacket: LC Lauren Conrad (at Kohl's) $40 {splurge}
Dress Pants: TJ Maxx $14.99
Heels: same as above (I'm a repeater, love these babies!)

Now I don't have a closet that will allow for me to wear a different outfit every day, I unforuntatel do not have the funds for it. But I am playing and mixing up with what I have. I hope to have some more cute stuff in the next week. :) Happy Weekend ~xoxo

Weekly Fashionista

A few months ago, I had mentioned that I would start posting about putting outfits together that came from certain clothing stores in order to prove that you could dress for less and still look fashionable. To be honest, I failed on getting that together and then today I put together my outfit and remembered that post. Here's my outfit:
eawkx.jpg

Black top: TJ Maxx ($11.99)
Button down: Burke's Outlet ($14.99)
Floral Scarf: Target ($17.99)
DKNY Skinny Jeans: TJ Maxx ($14.99)
Nicole Boots: Ross ($24.99)

As you can see, the outfit is completely cute but it didn't cost me a fortune either. Now obviously, I didn't buy all these pieces in mind for this particular ensemble. These were purchased at random and actually purchased a couple of years ago (except the boots and scarf). It just goes to show that you can throw things together in your closet , whether new or old, and come out with something that's "in" today. :)

I hope to do this once a week with the items in my closet. Hopefully this will give you some inspiration that you need. And if you're wondering where I get my inspiration from, then check out my favorite blogs listed to your right. Pinterest is also the best website for anything inspirational. Happy Monday!

Cheers to the New Year

2012 is fast approaching and everyone is trying to find that perfect party dress for the occasion (or the perfect set of pjs if you're planning on celebrating at home). Usually I go for a black ensemble and add a little sparkle to it. This year I'll be braving Gold, and that's a big step for me because I've never been one to wear it. I decided to see if anyone else was considering putting together a similar piece and this is what my Google search found:

#dresses high on glitter

New Years is always about glitter and fun! But it's also about everyone setting new goals to achieve for the new year, or restating ones from the past. This year, my friend Kimberly and I have decided that we will "let go" for 2012.
Instead of making new goals for the year, Kimberly and I are going to write down our worries and fears on balloons. Then we are going to  release them into the air, symbolising our step in moving forward and "letting go" of what keeps us down in life. I'll be posting pictures of our little release and maybe it will motivate you to "stop worrying about your weight" instead of making a goal each year to lose weight (just an example). Each new year gives us a chance to grow and become better individuals.
What are you plans and goals for the 2012?

The Blazer

These used to be only thought of with the woman's suit, but now they are a trendy little piece for every woman/girl to own. It instantly  adds class to a tshirt or tank for any event. I hate the structred suit jackets, because it makes me feel restricted. I tend to buy the blazers that are more light and feel like cotton.
I've pictured a few of pictures of my favorites below. You can find them as cheap at a thrift store, or even the Lauren Conrad collection (at Kohl's, which are my favorite). Not only can they be worn to work for a professional attire, but can also be worn for a lunch with the girls or dinner with a date.
How do you like to wear yours? ~xoxo

pair it with a dress (adore the color)

mix with a pattern and skinny jeans

roll the sleeeves up for a pop of color

pair it with shorts

I purchased a similar piece at GAP (on sale for $30)

Paired with leggings and a scarf

Skirt combination

Lace Blazer (vintage look, purchased one of these at Forever 21 [$20], looks great with black tank and black trousers)

VS Fashion Show: Favs

Regrettably I envy every single one of these ladies, and yet I'd give anything to have their confidence. So while I silently cursed their flawless physiques and my husband wiped the drool from the corner of his mouth, I have put together my favs from the show:

The booties (shoes) and lace had me falling in love

<<<< Absolute fav of the entire show!!!

Cuteness :)

I wish I could own some of these designs, they were gorgeous. Just wonder what they'll come up with next year. What were your favorites?
xoxo~
