I was born in the wrong era

I have a love for old movies (Pride & Prejudice, Breakfast @ Tiffany's, Little Women, Gone with the Wind); and I also love the clothing. So here's what I secretly wish I could be wearing, enjoy!

Weekly Fashionista

I've been taking pictures each morning of my work attire (please disregard the closet scenery). This is just from a few days this week.
Sweater: thrifted $9.00
Floral tank: TJ Maxx $14.99
Dress Pants: Gap (on sale) $30
Heels: Kohl's (clearance) $10
Lace Blazer: Forever 21 $24.99
Floral blouse: Kohl's $15.99
Pants: TJ Maxx $14.99
Heels: same as above (the best $10 I've spent)

Jacket: LC Lauren Conrad (at Kohl's) $40 {splurge}
Dress Pants: TJ Maxx $14.99
Heels: same as above (I'm a repeater, love these babies!)

Now I don't have a closet that will allow for me to wear a different outfit every day, I unforuntatel do not have the funds for it. But I am playing and mixing up with what I have. I hope to have some more cute stuff in the next week. :) Happy Weekend ~xoxo

Weekly Fashionista

A few months ago, I had mentioned that I would start posting about putting outfits together that came from certain clothing stores in order to prove that you could dress for less and still look fashionable. To be honest, I failed on getting that together and then today I put together my outfit and remembered that post. Here's my outfit:
eawkx.jpg

Black top: TJ Maxx ($11.99)
Button down: Burke's Outlet ($14.99)
Floral Scarf: Target ($17.99)
DKNY Skinny Jeans: TJ Maxx ($14.99)
Nicole Boots: Ross ($24.99)

As you can see, the outfit is completely cute but it didn't cost me a fortune either. Now obviously, I didn't buy all these pieces in mind for this particular ensemble. These were purchased at random and actually purchased a couple of years ago (except the boots and scarf). It just goes to show that you can throw things together in your closet , whether new or old, and come out with something that's "in" today. :)

I hope to do this once a week with the items in my closet. Hopefully this will give you some inspiration that you need. And if you're wondering where I get my inspiration from, then check out my favorite blogs listed to your right. Pinterest is also the best website for anything inspirational. Happy Monday!

Things I Love

In effort to make sure I, at least, blog regularly, I am going to do a weekly post titled: Things I Love. It's kind of like sharing my pinterest board(s) with you. Spring semester has started full swing, and I am busier than ever trying to manage classes and a full time job. So without further ado, a present to you a few things I love. Enjoy :) ~xoxo

Resolutions...

New Years always has everyone excited to lose weight for the year. Trust me I've done it myself for several years now and it is disappointing when you "fail" that resolution. So I've decided instead to put less pressure on myself and just focus on living a healthy lifestyle, which includes what I eat and exercising.
Recently, I've found out that I have a condition known as IBS. And for those that know what is is, it can be extremely miserable. Fortunately, I've had some help from a physician and a book that has guided me to eating right for IBS. The bonus for this is that I have lost some pounds while changing my diet, and the constant bloat I experienced all the time as dwindled as well. Now, adding some gym time to this will help me to keep my healthy lifestyle active and boost my self-confidence (an ongoing resolution for me). Now I know I said I wouldn't do resolutions this year, but these aren't necessarily just that. So just what are a few things I want to work on this year?

1. Be better at organizing (home & office)
2. Build up my GPA (summer is my last semester! yay)
3. Start look into my professional career
4. Build up our savings account (future home)

So whatever you have written down for your resolutions, good luck to you and remember that in order for it happen, you have to make a daily effort. I've listed some perseverance quotes below, for myself, and for you to get through your goals for the New Year. xoxo~

I may not be there yet, but I'm closer than I was yesterday.

Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up every time we fail.  ~Ralph Waldo Emerson
Don't be afraid to give your best to what seemingly are small jobs.  Every time you conquer one it makes you that much stronger.  If you do the little jobs well, the big ones will tend to take care of themselves.  ~Dale Carnegie

Cheers to the New Year

2012 is fast approaching and everyone is trying to find that perfect party dress for the occasion (or the perfect set of pjs if you're planning on celebrating at home). Usually I go for a black ensemble and add a little sparkle to it. This year I'll be braving Gold, and that's a big step for me because I've never been one to wear it. I decided to see if anyone else was considering putting together a similar piece and this is what my Google search found:

#dresses high on glitter

New Years is always about glitter and fun! But it's also about everyone setting new goals to achieve for the new year, or restating ones from the past. This year, my friend Kimberly and I have decided that we will "let go" for 2012.
Instead of making new goals for the year, Kimberly and I are going to write down our worries and fears on balloons. Then we are going to  release them into the air, symbolising our step in moving forward and "letting go" of what keeps us down in life. I'll be posting pictures of our little release and maybe it will motivate you to "stop worrying about your weight" instead of making a goal each year to lose weight (just an example). Each new year gives us a chance to grow and become better individuals.
What are you plans and goals for the 2012?

The Blazer

These used to be only thought of with the woman's suit, but now they are a trendy little piece for every woman/girl to own. It instantly  adds class to a tshirt or tank for any event. I hate the structred suit jackets, because it makes me feel restricted. I tend to buy the blazers that are more light and feel like cotton.
I've pictured a few of pictures of my favorites below. You can find them as cheap at a thrift store, or even the Lauren Conrad collection (at Kohl's, which are my favorite). Not only can they be worn to work for a professional attire, but can also be worn for a lunch with the girls or dinner with a date.
How do you like to wear yours? ~xoxo

pair it with a dress (adore the color)

mix with a pattern and skinny jeans

roll the sleeeves up for a pop of color

pair it with shorts

I purchased a similar piece at GAP (on sale for $30)

Paired with leggings and a scarf

Skirt combination

Lace Blazer (vintage look, purchased one of these at Forever 21 [$20], looks great with black tank and black trousers)
